This year is the 30th Walk to End HIV, formerly known as AIDS WALK DC. I’m walking now as I was walking that first AIDS WALK 30 years ago. I remember walking with my college roommate Tommy. He had lost his partner Bruce at 27 years old. We walked with his huge dog Lance feeling connected to a community that had been devastated by this Virus. Bruce would not be my first loss. He was one of 40 friends and colleagues who lost their lives. I though lived. I would work with many more women and men who lost their lives since, and many more that live every day with HIV because of the amazing work that we do at Whitman Walker Health. This year I’m giving more! Why you ask, because we are doing so much more, we have big plans for the future and because every day when I walk in 1525 14th street I realize that our Ancestors whisper –“do more, help more, it’s not finished yet.” Help me this year raise more. I have set a healthy goal of $10,000. I have just donated $1000 toward this goal. Give what you can, but please give!
When I walk, I walk with you beside me. I Love you all and thank you for your love and your gift. Randy
